How to choose this product
A large-format printer is an inkjet machine designed for printing on oversized media. It replaces the plotter, used to print line diagrams.
Applications
These machines produce posters, ordinary or adhesive PVC banners, or indoor and outdoor advertising. PVC and Flexface media are used for fleet vehicle marking, bulletin boards and backlit signs.
Technologies
Such printers use one or more of three primary drying technologies: solvent, UV and sublimation. Techniques include organic printing on recyclable media, water-based printing for indoor use and textile printing.
The printer has a roller, often equipped with a cutter. Reservoirs supply colored ink to multi-nozzle print heads. There is sufficient color variety to provide a good range of hues. A calibration system ensures accurate color reproduction and black point compensation. These printers can be equipped with a hard drive, network or USB ports, and can be used as scanners.
How to choose
Choice will depend on production speed in square meters per hour, color quality, resolution in dots per inch, drying technique, acceptable media and inclusion of an economy print mode.
