TechnologiesMechanical instruments operate using the principle that certain substances expand when heated. These include bimetallic versions, liquid-filled capillary models and gas expansion thermostats. Electric thermostats consist of a temperature sensor, such as a Pt100 or a thermocouple, and a relay to actuate a heating or cooling device. They can be individually configured.
How to chooseChoice will depend on the specifics of the intended application. These include the area or system whose temperature is to be controlled, available installation space and related practical factors. The thermostat should be placed where temperatures are representative of the entire system.
