Description
Trackside transformers are railways’ key components that supply power to electric rolling-stock that use either DC or single phase AC networks.
These transformers are designed to withstand the mechanical and electrical stresses due to inherent fluctuating load current characteristics and frequent short circuits conditions created by passing trains. Alstom Grid’s trackside transformers can reach up to 60 MVA rated power and with the HV connected to 220kV or even 400kV networks for high-speed train supplies.
