An acid digestion bomb (also known as an acid digestion vessel, hydrothermal reactor, or mineralization bomb) is a sealed high-pressure reactor designed to dissolve, digest, or mineralize difficult-to-dissolve materials. Under normal atmospheric conditions, strong acids such as HF, HNO₃, HCl, or aqua regia have limited reactivity due to boiling and evaporation losses. However, when these reagents are sealed inside a digestion bomb and heated above their boiling points, they generate high-pressure conditions that enable faster and more complete reactions.
Amar makes a range of acid digestion bombs and hydrothermal autoclaves, engineered for precise sample digestion, decomposition, and synthesis under extreme pressure and temperature conditions. Built with robust stainless-steel shells and inert PTFE liners, these systems are ideal for chemical, geological, biological, and materials research laboratories requiring complete, contamination-free digestion. Our digestion vessels are available in capacities from 100 mL to 750 mL, with reliable operation up to 200 bar pressure and 250C temperature, making them suitable for a wide variety of hydrothermal and acid digestion applications.
