Overview
The AQUA XL EP is an ACS-certified float level switch designed for drinking water applications. It uses an internal ballast and ACS-compliant materials for hygienic contact with potable water, delivering precise mechanical switching for pump control and level alarms.

Key applications
Suitable for drinking water pumping stations, storage tanks and water treatment systems. Applicable in sensitive environments requiring ACS certification and halogen-free cabling (examples: rail, shipbuilding, industrial water networks).

Operating principle
The float moves with the liquid level; when the float reaches the switching position it tilts the internal mechanical microswitch to open or close a circuit. The unit is fitted with a 3-core cable (COM, NO, NC) allowing selection of filling or emptying function during wiring. Two units can be paired to control minimum and maximum levels.

Operating modes

• Drain mode: float operates the pump at high position (overflow protection) and stops the circuit when the tank is empty to protect the pump.
• Fill mode: the circuit closes (NC) at low position to start the pump and refill the tank.

Limitations & recommendations
Not recommended for strongly agitated liquids (presence of agitators) or use in water towers. For turbulent liquids choose ATS 165 EP (ACS certified). For multi-pump control with an adjustable stainless steel ballast in calm liquids choose SOBA EP (ACS certified). Note switching behavior can be affected by agitation and fill/drain flow rates; the internal ballast provides a fixed switching angle of ±10°.

Installation & wiring
The float is suspended by the cable sheath; use the FIXCAB accessory for secure fixation. Avoid clamps or sharp elements that may damage the sheath. Electrical connections must be made in a watertight box outside the tank to prevent ingress. Cable extension should be performed with compatible signal cable; custom lengths available on request to avoid in-tank splices.
