Global Heavy Duty “In-Use” emission regulations include limits for THC (Total Hydro Carbons) and CH4 (Methane), which is mainly important for CNG Engines. The measurement of THC (in addition to NOX, CO, CO2) with PEMS is also required for passenger cars in the US. Air quality authorities request tests on passenger cars for vehicle screening and for the detection of defeat devices. PEMS need to be robust, easy to install and to operate. The test results must be accurate even at changing ambient conditions. The entire testing workflow needs to be tool
supported for a high efficiency and to avoid human errors.
