OverviewThe GL (gearless) extruder series provides an alternative drive concept. A frequency-controlled, high-torque AC motor drives the screw with the screw and the motor output shaft aligned in one line. The high-torque AC motor maintains high efficiency across operating ranges, including partial-load operation. Because GL drives operate without gears, energy losses associated with gear transmissions (e.g. flange loss, heating) are eliminated.
