Description

Overview Reliable on-site oxygen generation for anaerobic digestion support, H₂S desulphurisation, combustion tuning in CHP units and biomethane upgrading. PSA oxygen systems deliver continuous O₂ supply without recurring liquid oxygen deliveries or cylinder logistics, improving process control and plant availability.

Technical applications for biogas oxygen enrichment
  • Aerobic post-treatment: Controlled oxygen dosing supports biological polishing stages and on-site wastewater treatment.
  • Combustion optimisation: Stable O₂ supply enables precise tuning of burners, boilers, flares and CHP combustion processes.
  • H₂S desulphurisation: Micro-aeration can favour biological conversion of hydrogen sulphide to elemental sulphur when dosage is accurately controlled.
  • Biomethane upgrading: On-site oxygen integrates with gas conditioning and upgrading packages where a controlled oxygen source is required.

Key benefits of on-site PSA oxygen
  • No recurring liquid oxygen deliveries or cylinder handling
  • Continuous oxygen production matched to plant demand
  • Compact skid- or container-mounted designs for new and existing sites
  • Remote monitoring and control options for stable 24/7 operation
  • Typical ROI potential of 12–24 months depending on oxygen consumption and local energy costs

PSA oxygen for biogas upgrading A PSA system separates oxygen from ambient air and supplies the plant via buffer storage, pressure control and metered dosing to support predictable operation and reduce dependency on delivered gases. System design includes PSA unit, buffer tank, compressor, air treatment and control package.

From assessment to operation
  • Step 1: Verify biogas flow, oxygen demand, required pressure and target purity.
  • Step 2: Specify PSA oxygen generator, buffer tank, compressor and control package.
  • Step 3: Integrate dosing, safety valves, sensors and plant PLC.
  • Step 4: Commission, train operators and optimise dosage based on process data.
