Overview LEYBOLD OPTICS SEC series is a roll-to-roll metalizing solution engineered for high-volume holographic, protection and security applications. The system is built for high productivity, long uptime and consistent layer quality across aluminum, copper and ZnS processes.
Key benefits - 100% in-situ quality control: ISS technology provides real-time monitoring and control of aluminum and copper layer profiles to reduce scrap and ensure repeatable quality.
- Wide coating capability: Supports full-area aluminum and copper coatings as well as demanding interference zinc sulfide (ZnS) layers.
- Flexible evaporation setup: Two separate evaporators for different materials reduce changeover time and increase process flexibility.
Highlight features - Plasma pre-treatment — improved adhesion and surface conditioning: Integrated gas-injection module within a single-side cathode substrate enables cleaning, ablation, cross-linking and surface modification to optimize adhesion and lower permeability.
- Dedicated ZnS evaporator — enhanced uniformity and throughput: Directly heated metal crucibles inside an evaporation box with individual power supplies, large crucible capacity and configurable arrangement for higher productivity; can operate simultaneously with other sources.
- Optional pattern printing system — combined coating and segmented profiles: Drawer-installed system with oil evaporator, anilox and flexo roller including sleeve; sleeve structures manufacturable down to 1/100 mm for high-resolution patterning.
Other features and utilization - Max coating width: 650 mm; designed for PET, (B)OPP and other flexible substrates on request.
- Coating materials supported: aluminum, copper, zinc sulfide (ZnS).
- Typical applications: governmental and fiduciary documents, banknotes, vehicle protection elements, product and brand protection, and other optical-effect uses.
