OverviewCassette filters are commonly used as the primary filtration stage in air-conditioning and ventilation units. Production variants include flat media or machine-pleated (z-line) media to increase filtration surface. Depending on dimensions, additional reinforcement elements can be fitted. A dimension label on the frame ensures easy identification of the unit.
Construction- Cassette filters — media lying flat: Frame made from galvanized sheet steel for long-term corrosion resistance. The filter medium is positioned between two galvanized steel support meshes that stabilize the medium. The frame is closed with a blind rivet.
- Cassette filters — pleated material (z-line): Frame made from galvanized sheet steel. The filter medium is machine-pleated and fixed to galvanized steel support mesh; the frame is closed with blind rivets and inductive welding.
StandardsFire rating- F1 according to DIN 53438
Standard dimensionsFrame made from galvanized sheet metal, plastic or cardboard:- 592 x 592 mm
- 287 x 592 mm
- 625 x 500 mm
Frame thickness- Common: 20 mm, 25 mm
- Also: 50 mm, 96 mm, 100 mm (range 6–100 mm)
MaterialsFilter media consist of polyester or polypropylene fibres arranged with a progressive structure to ensure an optimal balance between filtration efficiency and pressure drop.
Cassette filters with thermosetting pleat (without steel mesh)A technical solution using thermally treated non-woven media produces rigid pleats that can be installed in the frame without steel mesh support. Benefits include reduced weight and increased filtration area while maintaining required performance.
Structure- Pleat height: 20–100 mm
- Frame thickness: 6–100 mm (typical 20–100 mm)
- Frame type: galvanized steel, plastic or cardboard
Technical data — cassette filters- Classification (PN–EN 779:2012): G3 | G4 | M5
- Filtration effectiveness (ISO 16890): G3: ISO Coarse; G4: ISO Coarse; M5: ePM10 35–70%
- Reference frame dimensions (mm): 592 x 592 for typical references
- Construction: flat or pleated depending on thickness
- Airflow (typical per 592 x 592): ~2500 m³/h
- Initial pressure drop (Pa): G3: 20–45; G4: 30–55; M5: 50–75
- Recommended final pressure drop (Pa): G3/G4: 250; M5: 450
- Maximum operating temperature: plastic frame 80 °C; metal frame 100 °C
- Frame thickness range (mm): 6–100
NoteFinal performance values are specified in the offer or on order according to measurement results and chosen configuration.
Application- G2, G3, G4, M5 — used in HVAC units for spaces with average air cleanliness requirements (e.g. hotels, office buildings, shopping centres).
