- Autonomous production for long shifts
- Compact design
DescriptionThe IRDc is built for canmakers to bring worn tools back into production. Every feature — from software and process to automation — is designed for consistent, high-precision results in canmaking.
Highlights- Every tool covered with a single machine: handles punches, ironing dies and redraw dies used in canmaking and covers ID, OD, radius and profile grinding in one compact machine.
- Finished tool in one set-up: clamp the part once and complete OD, steps, nose transitions for punches and back angles, lands and faces for dies without additional set-ups.
Overbeck precision- Dies: surface finish Ra < 0.03 μm; runout < 2.5 μm; roundness < 0.5 μm (typical performance targets reported).
- Punches: major diameters held to ±2.5 μm; surface finishes typically Ra 0.05–0.08 μm.
AutomationThe IRDc can be equipped with a robotic cell specifically designed for regrinding dies. The cell enables autonomous runs of up to 90 dies and supports long unattended shifts (examples indicate runs up to 11 hours without operator intervention).
Software: DoGrind+- Pre-programmed cycles to guide setup and ensure consistent results across standard geometries.
- Automatic profile correction to maintain accuracy run after run, reducing manual adjustments.
- Graphical catalog to save and recall custom shapes quickly.
Technology- Natural granite machine base for thermal stability and vibration damping.
- Linear motors for fast, precise axis movement with low maintenance and no backlash.
- In-house direct-drive workheads offering rigidity and modularity for different clamping systems.
- High-precision grinding spindles with integrated motors, optimised bearings and lubrication for thermal stability and consistent surface quality.
