Description

Overview
The IRD series consolidates internal, external and radius grinding in a single machine concept and software environment. Designed for flexible production and automation integration, the range offers three models (IRD-300, IRD-500, IRD-700) and multiple configuration options for diverse part types and batch sizes.

Process flexibility
  • Multiple grinding processes in one setup: internal (ID), external (OD), face, taper, radius, thread, non-round and jig grinding.
  • Radius grinding integrated with non-round grinding in the same system.
  • Up to 5 grinding spindles and an in-process measuring probe depending on model and configuration.

Software: DoGrind+
  • All-in-one environment for simple and complex grinding cycles.
  • Direct programming on the machine control for many cycles without external software.
  • Wizard support for thread, non-round, jig and taper grinding to assist selection, confirmation and execution.
  • Fast customer-specific customization with short implementation lead times.

Automation
  • Engineered for easy integration: compact models provide dedicated space for an integrated robot.
  • Multiple automation families: robot inside the machine (S FLEXMOTION), robot in a cell (M FLEXMOTION), external robot or gantry solutions (L FLEXMOTION, M MOTION, L MOTION, HYBRID).
  • Solutions tailored to parts, batch variety and production layout (robots, gantries, hybrid systems).

Overbeck precision & key technologies
  • Natural granite machine base for thermal stability and vibration damping.
  • Linear motors for fast, precise, backlash-free axis motion and low maintenance.
  • In-house direct-drive workheads for rigidity, modularity and stable long-cycle performance.
  • High-precision grinding spindles with integrated motors, optimized bearings and lubrication for thermal stability and consistent surface quality.

Highlights
  • Compact footprint (IRD-300 is approximately 40% smaller than many alternatives) while offering high flexibility.
  • Three model family covering a wide part range: IRD-300, IRD-500, IRD-700.
  • Energy-aware software with power compensation to reduce energy consumption (up to ~30% potential savings depending on process).

Customisation
Available options and customer-specific configurations include:
  • Spindle turret: direct-driven turret with ~300° swivelling range; capacity for up to 5 spindles plus one measuring probe.
  • Clamping systems: three-jaw chuck, magnetic chuck, shoe system, customized chucks, steady rest, tailstock.
  • Dressing systems: fixed dresser, dressing spindle, radius dresser, dressing revolver, dresser on the workhead, roller dresser.
  • Measuring systems: touch probe, in-process measuring, post-process measuring, tool measuring device.
