Product description"Made in Germany" – The ERICHSEN model 618 is a corrosion test chamber for salt spray tests and cyclic climate tests with regulated humidity. The test chamber volume available are is 400 L / 1000 L / 2000 L. Manufactured from special GRP (glass-fibre reinforced plastic), the chambers are suitable for deep-freeze cycles (down to -40 °C, with an additional climate unit) and dry heating (up to +70 °C). The test chambers open pneumatically. The ergonomic combined cabinet-coffer design ensures user-friendly sample loading. Operation is via a TFT display with function keys and full-colour touch. Constant, ascending and descending ramps for temperature and humidity can be programmed directly via the display. The model 618 is standard equipped with a control unit for setting relative humidity from ambient up to 95 % ± 5 % and up to a maximum temperature of +50 °C.
Purpose and applicationTogether with pre-treatment techniques and modern materials, coating systems have reached a high technical maturity. In addition, increased processing requirements and environmental considerations lead to further system improvements of coating materials. Therefore, corrosion protection tests remain essential for rapid quality monitoring and for identifying weak points. Due to global trade in industrial products, demands on corrosion resistance for different climatic zones have increased. Many test standards for cyclic climate tests have been developed to simulate these climate changes under intensified conditions. Under accelerated laboratory conditions, cyclic climate tests provide better insight into relative corrosion behavior than pure salt spray tests. The stress from natural environmental conditions is simulated comparably by cyclic climate tests.
