Description

Description
The PICOGLOSS 562 MC is a compact two-angle gloss meter (20° and 60°) designed for objective gloss assessment on coated and uncoated surfaces such as paper, plastics, metals and wood. It provides reliable on-site measurements on small or narrow specimens and in hard-to-reach areas.

Design and Function
One of the smallest two-angle gloss instruments, the PICOGLOSS 562 MC combines 20° and 60° measuring geometries with automatic mirror-gloss changeover at 150 gloss units. Its small footprint allows measurements on limited sample areas while meeting requirements for high and medium gloss ranges.

Handling
Single-key operation enables quick measurements. The last reading remains displayed for approximately 30 seconds and is retained after switching off, so the value reappears when the instrument is switched on again.

Display
The high-contrast backlit LCD displays measured and calibration values as well as status messages and information for the operator.

Calibration
Two-position calibration uses a single calibrating standard. Calibration runs automatically after key press and the calibration value is stored on the standard (EPROM).

20° gloss measurement
Used for surfaces with high gloss where a shallow angle improves sensitivity.

60° gloss measurement
Widely applied for medium gloss ranges; recommended for typical quality control in the medium gloss interval (approximately 30–70 GU at 60°).

Mirror-gloss measurement
Mirror-gloss measurement for metallic or highly reflective finishes with automatic range change at 150 GU.

Indicating ranges
20° mode: 150–2000 GU. 60° mode: 150–1000 GU.

Detection of external light
Influence of ambient light can be checked by performing measurements with the lamp switched off.

Power supply
Operates on two LR03 (AAA) cells, sufficient for approximately 10,000 measurements. When connected to a PC, the USB interface supplies power.

Reference Class
