Description
The MATCHMASTER 425 MC II/LED is a color viewing cabinet designed for objective visual assessment and comparison of color samples under controlled lighting conditions. It supports evaluation of inks, paints, plastics, textiles, paper, dyes and other colored materials and is suited to applications in coatings, cosmetics, printing, packaging, graphic design, interior and fashion design.

General information
The unit includes operating-hour monitoring for lamps to support measurement system control. All configurations comply with ASTM D 1729 (including CIE Pub. 51), SAE J361 and ISO 3668 requirements for light quality and intensity, viewing symmetry and uniformity. The MATCHMASTER 425 MC II/LED is supplied with a calibration certificate for light quality as standard.

Five standard light types
The cabinet reproduces key viewing illuminants: 6500 K (D65 — daylight, full spectrum balanced), 4000 K (TL84 — cool white fluorescent, commercial lighting), 2700 K (A — incandescent/tungsten, warm indoor light). Additionally, 3000 K (TL83) and UV are provided as standard options for inspection of optical brighteners and fluorescent effects. These light types enable reliable assessment of color appearance in typical end-use environments.

Construction and function
The MATCHMASTER 425 MC II/LED is built from norm-compliant painted sheet metal and can be assembled in minutes with a cross-head screwdriver. The durable metal housing has an open front; side panels can be removed for inspection of larger samples. A diffuser ensures uniform light distribution. Light modules are interchangeable on request. A calibration certificate is included.

Electronic light automation and monitoring
An electronic light automation enables programmable automatic switching between illuminants with adjustable exposure times. Users can program a sequence of up to 10 changes in any order. The unit features ColorGuard 3.0, which monitors all five light types, records cumulative lamp hours and signals when lamp replacement is required.
