The ERICHSEN SmartPen is a modular instrument for determining surface scratch resistance, metal marking tendency and the durability of printed markings depending on the test head used. It provides digital setting and display of the test force with 0.05 N resolution.

Background / applications
Traditional hardness test pencils (models 318, 318 S, 435, 435 S) are established methods to quantify paint film and coating hardness on flat or curved surfaces. The SmartPen modernises the method by offering precise, repeatable force control and portability for laboratory and on-site use.

SmartPen description
The ERICHSEN SmartPen is a modular hardness test pencil with digital force adjustment and readout. It is compatible with test heads and tools from the 318/435 series. The device is supplied without a test head unless otherwise specified. Existing ERICHSEN test heads can be reused with the SmartPen.
