Motorized pendulum impact tester Model 299/300

Description
The Model 299/300 pendulum damping tester assesses the mechanical damping behaviour of lacquers, paints and related coatings by measuring the attenuation of a standardized pendulum placed on the test surface.

Test principle
The softer the coating, the greater the damping of the oscillation of the standardized pendulum supported on the test panel. Measurement is performed according to established pendulum methods (e.g. König, Persoz).

Design and function
The tester comprises a levellable base plate and a vertical column with a sample holder for test panels up to 250 x 100 x 15 mm. An acrylic glass hood with openings for sample insertion protects the test area from dust and drafts. The device is operated via an external control terminal with a 4-digit LC display.

Measuring modules / Versions
Two measuring module options are available:

• Basic version
  • Pendulum excursion set manually by lever mechanism; release via cable trigger.
• Automatic version
  • Automatic excursion and release of the pendulum.

Readings / Display
The pendulum type is entered at the control terminal. The 4-digit LC display shows alternately:

• number of oscillations
• test duration
• oscillation period

Reference class / Manufacturer's certificate
Both manual and automatic versions are supplied with a Manufacturer’s Certificate M (factory calibration) including:

• set and actual values for pendulum oscillation quantities
• flatness of the calibration plate
• product identification
• test equipment used with calibration status
• date
• inspector name
