Overview
The Anybus Communicator Serial Master to EtherNet/IP enables you to connect any RS-232/485 device or equipment to EtherNet/IP control systems. Anybus Communicators ensure reliable, secure, and high-speed data transfers between different industrial networks. They include built-in cybersecurity features and are compliant with the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). Thanks to an intuitive web-based user interface, configuration and commissioning are simple and fast.

Features and benefits

• Easily convert proprietary RS-232/485 protocols: Convert RS-232/485 Request/Response or Produce/Consume protocols in minutes using a drag-and-drop frame builder to build frames, insert/extract data, and handle complex variable frames.
• Connect up to 32 Modbus RTU Servers (slaves): Supports up to 32 servers, 150 Modbus commands, a selectable 3 ms serial update rate, graphical transaction builder, controller/PLC triggers and inter-node data exchange for demanding applications.
• Transfer 1448 bytes to and from EtherNet/IP controller (PLC): Transfer up to 1448 bytes in each direction (2896 total) via dual 10/100 Mbit full duplex RJ45 ports with an integrated switch for daisy-chaining. Supports EtherNet/IP Adapter, 1 ms RPI, Class 1/Class 3, Device Level Ring, Quick Connect class B, and provides an EDS file.
• Instant data transfer: Very low processing time aligned with network jitter; total transfer time is the sum of cycle times of both networks.
• Configure via web interface over Ethernet: Graphical and responsive web UI with no software to install; dedicated Ethernet configuration port for easy startup.
• Diagnostics and support: UI shows connection status and allows analysis of serial traffic and monitoring of data through the gateway. Live List and Data Exchange Control enable node monitoring and control.
• Drop-in replacement: Legacy mode enables import of existing serial configurations from Communicator Classic to maintain controller/PLC setups.
• Secure and segment networks: Secure boot to block malware, a physical security switch to lock configurations, and inherent network segmentation so only configured data is transferred between networks.
• Built for factory floors: Industrial-grade components, verified to industry standards, 5-year warranty, slim form factor, front-facing ports and cable tie support for easy DIN-rail installation.
• CRA-ready: Developed under an IEC 62443-4-1 certified process; supports HTTPS configuration and role-based access control and includes a physical security switch to help meet CRA requirements.
