Description

Overview
The Powermax105 SYNC® is a next-generation, professional-grade air plasma cutter that simplifies operation for gouging and cutting up to 32 mm (1-1/4″) recommended. It features automated system process setup via RFID-enabled SmartSYNC® torches and a single-piece cartridge consumable that provides trackable utilization data. The system is designed to maximize productivity by reducing downtime, optimizing cut quality over consumable life, and streamlining consumable inventory management.

Applications
  • Drag cutting — dragging the torch directly across the work piece.
  • Extended reach cutting — improved visibility and access in confined spaces.
  • Extended reach gouging — improved visibility and access for gouging in confined spaces.
  • Fine feature cutting — narrow kerf with minimal dross and heat affected zone.
  • Flush cutting — cutting closer to base materials using a 45° approach.
  • Max control gouging — precise metal removal, shallower gouge profiles and light metal washing.
  • Max removal gouging — aggressive metal removal, deep gouge profiles and extreme metal washing.
  • Mechanized cutting — portable automation and table cutting.

Benefits
  • Easy to use: Cartridges are easy to identify by process with clear laser marking and color coding to eliminate part mix-ups; RFID-enabled SmartSYNC torches and cartridges automatically set correct amperage and operating mode; end-of-life consumable detection; reduced operator fatigue with a new flexible lead.
  • Minimize operation costs: Simplified operation reduces training and troubleshooting time; reductions in downtime during consumable change-outs and reduced premature disposal costs; cartridge usage data helps optimize cutting operations and consumable inventory.
  • Maximize performance: Interchangeable torch styles and application-specific cartridges for various cutting and gouging tasks; optimized cartridge consumable design yields up to twice the life for handheld cutting and improved mechanized quality over time; hand torch controls allow on-the-fly amperage adjustment, cartridge and application changes without returning to the power supply.
  • Industry-leading reliability: SmartSYNC torches are engineered for rugged industrial environments; SpringStart™ technology ensures consistent starting and a reliable torch; reliability reduces production downtime.

Cut and gouge capacities (table)
Cut capacity | Thickness | Cut speed
Recommended | 32 mm (1-1/4") | 500 mm/min (20 ipm)
  | 38 mm (1-1/2") | 250 mm/min (10 ipm)
Severance (hand cutting) | 50 mm (2") | 125 mm/min (5 ipm)
Pierce* | 22 mm (7/8") | (pierce rating for handheld use or with automatic torch height control)

Gouge capacity (table)
Gouge capacity | Metal removal rate | Groove profile
Typical gouge | 8.6 kg (19.1 lbs.) per hour | 6.6 mm D x 6.0 mm W (0.26" D x 0.24" W)

Torches and consumables
  • SmartSYNC torches feature RFID capability; when paired with Hypertherm cartridges they communicate with the Powermax SYNC system to automatically set amperage and process. Available in handheld, mechanized and robotic torch configurations.
  • Hypertherm cartridge consumable platform: single-piece cartridges optimized by process and amperage to simplify parts and ensure performance. Cartridges are test-fired at manufacture; burn marks on the tip can occur and are normal.

Notes
  • Cartridge process families include Drag cutting, FineCut hand and mechanized, Mechanized, Max removal, Max control gouging, FlushCut, and HyAccess; cartridges are process- and amperage-specific.
  • Some mechanized cartridges can be used on hand torches if a stand-off is desired.
