Product OverviewPassive Purple External is a liquid-applied, fire-rated, watertight and vapour-breathable membrane for external and internal façade use. It provides combined airtightness, weather protection and moisture management in a single certified coating, suitable for new build and retrofit projects.
Key Benefits & Features- Fire Class B – fire-rated for façade applications.
- Raintight & Vapour Breathable – prevents liquid water ingress while permitting vapour diffusion to dry out the wall.
- Airtight & Smoke-Tight – reduces uncontrolled air leakage and smoke movement.
- UV Resistant & Self-Cleaning – durable exterior finish with lower dirt pickup.
- Anti-Fungus Protection – resists mould growth.
- Crack-Bridging – maintains continuity across minor movement and cracks.
- Concrete Protection – carbonation barrier and protection against salts.
- Dual Purpose – suitable for internal and external applications, retrofit and new build.
- VOC-free, Water-Based – safer for applicators and occupants.
Tested & Certified- Reaction to fire: Euroclass B-s1,d0 (EN 13501-1 on qualifying substrates) and ASTM E84 Class A.
- Watertight: Class W1 (EN 13859-2) and water permeability Class W3 (EN 1062-3); near-zero water absorption (EN 16302).
- Breathable / vapour-open: Sd ≈ 0.6 m (EN ISO 12572).
- Crack-bridging: A3 (23°C) / A4 (-10°C) (EN 1062-7).
- CO₂ / carbonation barrier Class C1 (EN 1062-6).
- Low-emission: EMICODE EC2; anti-fungus rating 0; independent approvals: Kiwa BDA Agrément, Passive House component (phB), ICC-ES AC212.
Why Choose Passive Purple External?- Efficient application: a single installer can cover up to ~300 m²/day using airless spray (project dependent).
- Flexible application methods: airless spray for large areas, roller for small areas and touch-ups.
- Combination of airtightness, fire performance and breathable drying capability in one certified product.
Substrates & Compatibility- Concrete and masonry walls
- Engineered timber panels / OSB
- Insulation boards and panels
- Fibre cement boards
Directions for UseSurface Preparation- Remove salt efflorescence, dust, loose materials and standing water.
- Apply only on a closed surface — fill holes and joints first with a suitable fast-setting product or foam.
Application Conditions- Substrate temperature: above 5°C.
- Application on damp surfaces permitted provided there is no standing water.
- Do not add water or solvents to the product.
- Do not apply in direct full sunlight or during rain.
Application Method- Apply using an airless spray device (e.g., Graco) for large projects or with a paint roller for small areas and repairs.
- Always apply two coats; allow first coat to dry fully before applying the second.
