Overview
Size 8 (20 mm) stepper lead screw linear actuator provides compact, precision linear positioning for industrial applications. The unit requires less than 1 in² mounting footprint and delivers up to 45 N of continuous thrust. Four form factors are available: External, Non-captive, Captive (electrical cylinder) and Kaptive.

Speed / thrust curves
Speed-thrust curves are provided for single-stack and double-stack configurations under test conditions. TEST CONDITION: 24 Vdc; Driver model: DS-OLS2-FPD bipolar chopper at rated current (RMS). Motor thrust will vary with voltage and driver; a 50% thrust margin is recommended for differing drive conditions.

Options
  • Screw end machining — optional machining of screw ends to customer drawing or application needs.
  • Teflon coating — greaseless Teflon-coated lead screws available to extend life and improve thrust versus conventional SUS screws; compatible with anti-backlash nuts.
  • External anti-backlash nut — available; nut length depends on selected lead code.
  • Non-captive anti-backlash nut — available for non-captive configurations.
  • Encoder option (EK1) — resolutions (CPR): 100, 108, 120, 125, 128, 200, 250, 256, 300, 360, 400, 500, 512, 720, 800, 1000; output types: single-ended and differential (various codes).
  • Power-off brake (Size 8 motor) — rated voltage: DC 24 V ±5%; resistance: 55 Ω ±10%; power: 9.6 W; hold torque >0.06 N·m; insulation class B; insulation resistance >100 MΩ (DC 500 V); dielectric strength AC 1000 V for 1 s; retraction and release times 50 ms; emergency brake cycle 200 cycles; life: 500,000 cycles; noise <60 dB.


Applications / use notes
Designed for compact precision linear positioning where a small mounting footprint is required. Multiple lead codes provide a wide range of travel per step for fine or coarse translation. Motor wiring and screw lead are configurable to match integration and control requirements.
