Description

Product overview
With the C-Type, LEBEN-Dämpfungstechnik GmbH offers a hydraulic industrial shock absorber for light to medium mechanical engineering applications. The C-Series (COMPENSER®) is designed for highly dynamic stacker cranes, conveyor and crane systems, test rigs and similar equipment. Its short overall length enables space-saving installation as an end-position limiter. The unit provides a low retracting force for safe operational approach and features a modular design that allows on-site maintenance and straightforward repairs by customer personnel.

Applications
  • Automation technology, handling equipment and assembly lines
  • Linear units, slides, traversing axes and positioning systems
  • Conveyor technology: roller conveyors, chain conveyors and transfer lines
  • Traversing, transfer and cross trolleys
  • Storage systems: small parts storage, high-bay warehousing and automated storage systems
  • Stacker cranes (ASRS), AS/RS systems and shuttle applications
  • Packaging machines, sorting systems and material flow equipment
  • Small crane systems, light hoists and trolley drives
  • Machine stops, end stops, safety stops and emergency stops
  • Special machine construction, test rigs, fixtures and indexing machines

Technical Specifications
  • Mounting position: horizontal (standard); vertical on request
  • Low retracting force
  • Short overall length for space-saving installation
  • High buckling resistance
  • Surface: housing zinc-plated (standard) or painted; piston rod hard chrome-plated (standard)
  • Damping medium: low-viscosity COMPENSOL®
  • Flange: front or rear; optional foot mounting
  • Reaction force: constant over full stroke or increasing in front stroke range (option)
  • Very short activation time after impact
  • Temperature range: -40 to +80 °C
  • Energy conversion up to 600 kNm

Design & Function
The piston rod penetrates the metering tube; the damping medium flows from the working chamber through the throttle bores of the metering tube into the compensation chamber. Nitrogen gas between the outer tube and the metering tube is compressed and stores the energy required for retraction. During retraction the damping medium flows back into the working chamber, returning the piston rod to its initial position.

Designations
  • 1 Impact cap
  • 2 Piston rod
  • 3 Metering tube
  • 4 Throttle bores
  • 5 Volume compensation chamber
  • 6 Working chamber
  • 7 Outer tube
  • 8 Rear flange

Accessories & Options
  • Additional accumulator to reduce retracting force and separate damping medium from nitrogen phase
  • Sensors for operational readiness (inductive, magnetic, optical or mechanical limit switch; ATEX versions available)
  • Pressure sensor (diaphragm or piston pressure switch) for internal pressure monitoring
  • Position sensor for stroke monitoring
  • Integrated temperature monitoring
  • Integrated fill-level monitoring
  • Maintenance connection for filling damping medium and nitrogen
  • Specific materials (e.g., stainless steel) for corrosive environments or food-industry use
  • Corrosion protection to DIN EN ISO 12944 up to category C5M
  • Bellows for protection against dust, dirt and corrosive media
  • Mechanical spring retraction (maintenance-free) as alternative
  • COMPENSOL® variants for automotive, food-industry or extreme temperatures
  • Valves to minimize retraction time or reduce compression force during load cycles
  • Drive energy throttling options
  • End-position damping
  • Round or square flange front or rear; foot mounting (welded or flanged)
  • Special mounting elements (e.g., eyes) to customer geometry
  • PU impact cap for noise reduction; special impact caps on request
  • Safety wire rope on piston rod
  • Special seals for extreme temperature ranges
