Description

Overview
The industry standard for over 90 years, the Mathey Dearman saddle machine is a compact, easy-to-use pipe cutting and beveling system. Available in manual and motorized (PLASMASPEED) versions, it supports pipe diameters from 1.5–48" (38–1,219 mm) depending on model and delivers accurate, repeatable cuts suited to welding preparation.

Manual saddle machine includes
  • Saddle machine
  • Torch arm
  • Torch carrier assembly (torch diameter 1.375" / 35 mm)
  • Boomer assembly (mounts machine to the pipe)
  • Spacer bolt set
  • Parts and operating manual

Motorized saddle machine highlights (PLASMASPEED)
PLASMASPEED motorized machines add a right-angle precision stepper motor and motor control for faster, consistent cutting—especially with high-power plasma torches. They accept 110/230 VAC and can increase plasma cutting speed while producing smooth cuts that reduce or eliminate grinding.

Motorized saddle machine includes
  • 110/230 VAC motorized saddle machine
  • Torch arm
  • Torch carrier assembly
  • Boomer assembly
  • Spacer bolt set
  • Parts and operating manual
  • Mounting bracket
  • Right-angle precision stepper motor
  • Motor control box
  • Plasma communication cable (10 ft, compatible with Hypertherm CPC port)

Conventional cutting vs. saddle cutting time
Hand cutting example — 8" schedule 40: total ≈ 30 minutes
  • Includes measuring, cutting and grinding
  • Long layout and cutting time, uneven cuts requiring grinding
  • Longer fit-up and variable weld gap

Mathey Dearman saddle machine example — 8" schedule 40 with 1SA: total ≈ 6 minutes
  • Accurate, repeatable cut
  • Minimal or no grinding
  • Faster fit-up and consistent weld gap

Product advantages (additional notes)
  • Motorized models increase productivity (up to ~5× faster in many cases) and improve cut consistency
  • PLASMASPEED capability for increased plasma cutting throughput
  • Accessories (double torch arm, pro model torch arm, out-of-round roller) reduce setup and accommodate nonstandard pipe conditions
