Description

Product overview
This three‑axis electronic cam control system replaces mechanical cams on pillow‑bag and flow‑wrap packaging machines. It independently drives film‑feed (bag‑length master), cross‑seal (electronic cam follower for seal and cut) and longitudinal‑seal (tension control). Recipes (bag length, dwell, cam profile) are stored on a 7" touch screen for fast format changes without mechanical adjustment.

Key highlights
  • Lower system cost vs. full AC‑servo alternatives (approx. 30–40%) while delivering electronic‑cam synchronization
  • Electronic cam enables format changeover in <5 minutes via recipe selection
  • Three‑axis synchronization: film feed (master) + cross‑seal (cam follower) + longitudinal seal (tension/speed control)
  • Eye‑mark correction holds bag length to ±0.5 mm at speeds up to 120 bags/min
  • Unlimited named recipes and parameter lock to prevent accidental changes during production
  • OEM‑customizable: axis count, motor size, fieldbus (RS‑485/CANopen), cam profile library

Summary
Drive axes: 3 (film feed + cross‑seal + longitudinal seal)
Sync method: Software electronic cam
Bag length accuracy: ±0.5 mm (with eye‑mark correction)
Packaging speed: Up to 120 bags/min (product dependent)
Communication: RS‑485 Modbus RTU standard; CANopen optional
HMI: 7" touch screen with recipe management

Motion axes
Drive axes: 3 independent servo axes
Axis 1 — Film feed: Master velocity axis controlling bag length and line speed
Axis 2 — Cross‑seal: Electronic cam follower for synchronized seal and cut cycle
Axis 3 — Longitudinal seal: Tension/speed composite control to prevent slack or film breakage
Synchronization: Software electronic cam computed in real time from master encoder
Packaging speed: Up to 120 bags/min (product and bag length dependent)
Bag length accuracy: ±0.5 mm with eye‑mark correction

Sealing & registration
Eye‑mark correction: Photoelectric sensor detects registration mark and adjusts film feed in real time
Seal dwell control: Dwell angle adjustable per recipe to ensure consistent seal quality across speeds
Cross‑seal cam profile: Configurable (constant‑velocity seal zone + high‑speed return); stored per recipe
Temperature control: PID loop for cross‑seal jaw (external thermocouple input, relay output)

HMI & recipe management
Display: 7" color touch screen
Recipe storage: Unlimited named product recipes (bag length, speed, cam profile, seal temperature)
Changeover time: <5 minutes — recipe selection only, no mechanical adjustments
Parameter lock: Operator‑level lock prevents accidental parameter changes during run
Fault display: Real‑time axis status, alarm history and motor current monitoring

Motor & drive
Motor type: BLDC (CW57 / CW70) or closed‑loop stepper servo (CWDS series)
Drive interface: Step/direction or analog ±10 V (configurable per axis)
Encoder feedback: Incremental encoder per axis (1000–5000 PPR)
Cost advantage: Approx. 30–40% lower system cost using NEOTON BLDC + CWDS closed‑loop stepper drives vs. AC servo solutions

Communication & I/O
Fieldbus: RS‑485 Modbus RTU standard; CANopen optional
Digital I/O: 16 DI / 16 DO (24 VDC, expandable)
Analog input: 2 × 0–10 V / 4–20 mA (tension sensor, speed reference)
Safety: Emergency stop, drive fault interlock, film‑break detection

OEM & customization
Solution: Representative application — NEOTON can customize axis count, motor frame, fieldbus protocol, cam profile library and enclosure to match machine design
Typical applications: Food pillow‑bag packaging, pharmaceutical blister pre‑feed, flow‑wrap for consumer goods, frozen food lines
Minimum order: No minimum — single prototype to volume production
Documentation: System manual, wiring diagram, cam profile design guide, HMI operation manual and commissioning checklist provided
