Short description
SOMANET Braking Chopper 48 V 500 W dissipates regenerated energy produced when a motor decelerates a load, preventing DC bus overvoltage on drives fed from power supplies without recuperation.

Function
During active motor deceleration, kinetic energy is converted back into electrical energy. On systems without DC-bus recuperation this regenerated energy raises the DC-link voltage and can trigger drive or supply shutdown. The braking chopper shunts and dissipates the excess energy as heat to maintain safe DC voltage levels.
