Description

Overview
The 9160A is a bench-top, DC-coupled single-channel wideband amplifier in a 2U half 19-inch rack form factor. It delivers high-voltage and high-current output suitable for demanding laboratory and industrial signal‑conditioning tasks.

Key Features
  • 45 MHz typical bandwidth
  • Up to 34 Vp-p into 50 Ω (standard configuration)
  • Peak output current up to 1 A; continuous output power up to 10 W
  • Fast transition time < 10 ns
  • Low distortion wideband amplification
  • Customizable gain, input impedance and output configuration

Performance
The amplifier provides a high amplitude output with stable frequency response across 45 MHz. Peak current capability supports pulse and continuous applications requiring both voltage and current drive.

Instrument Configuration
Standard configuration: gain x10, 34 Vp-p into 50 Ω. Optional fixed gains x15 and x20 are available (note: bandwidth may decrease at higher fixed gains). Coupling selectable DC or AC.

Outputs
Front-panel outputs deliver the amplified signal into the matched load. Selectable output configurations include two separated channels or a single channel with differential outputs (switch-selectable), depending on ordering option.

Inputs
Inputs per channel include front-panel main input, rear auxiliary summing input, and rear DC offset input. Input impedance configurable to 50 Ω, 75 Ω or 1 MΩ to match source requirements.

Target Applications
Designed for piezo-electronics, transducer characterization, MEMS testing, scientific wideband measurements and general electronics requiring combined high voltage and high current amplification.
