The Twiflex GMR40 and GMR series includes disc brake calipers for discs with 40-mm and 25.4-mm thicknesses respectively. One or two calipers are typically used per disc, but more may be required depending on the size of the disc. The ideal position for the brakes is horizontally, at either 3 o’clock or 9 o’clock, although they may still be positioned at any angle around the disc. If the mounting angle of the caliper is greater than 10-degrees from the horizontal, or positioned on vertical shaft applications, an inclined mounting kit should be used. Dry, non-lubricated and filtered compressed air should be used in pneumatic operation. Also, a control valve is needed for the pneumatic brakes, operated either manually or by an electrical or pneumatic signal.
