The CS-iTWLM is a manhole-cover-mounted device that monitors cover tilt/movement and detects water-level exceedance, transmitting alarm messages wirelessly to a monitoring center via NB‑IoT or CAT.1.
OverviewThe device is mounted on the underside of a manhole cover (normally horizontal). It continuously measures cover inclination with an accelerometer and monitors water level with a float sensor. When configured tilt or water-level thresholds are exceeded, the unit sends alarm messages to a monitoring center for analysis and response.
Key functions and behaviour- Dual wireless communication: NB‑IoT and CAT.1.
- Battery-powered, designed for low-power, long-life operation with low-voltage warning.
- Manhole cover inclination detection via accelerometer (acceleration sensor).
- Water-level exceedance detection via float sensor with customizable cable/length for different well depths.
- Alarm triggered when inclination angle exceeds the configured threshold (default 10°, configurable) or when the float indicates water-level exceedance.
- Configurable periodic status reporting; transmitted messages distinguish alarm and normal states.
- Low-battery reporting via dedicated warning messages.
Working principleThe accelerometer measures the current inclination angle of the manhole cover and the float detects water-level rise. An abnormal condition is defined as ABS(current angle − initial angle) > alarm angle threshold or float activation indicating water-level exceedance. On abnormality, the device transmits an alarm message to the monitoring center for handling.
