The MX1C is a self contained laser displacement sensor. Featuring a small size and high resolution of 50 microns (0.002"), the MX1C is perfect for small mounting areas with delicate applications. The MX1C is easy to align with its visible Red laser. The MX1C offers a 4-20mA analog output, and, a discrete transistor output for displacement determination.
The MX1C utilizes triangulation to determine object displacement. The sensor head projects a laser beam to the object. The diffuse-reflected light from the object's surface is received as a spot image. This spot image moves from position A to B on the PSD (position sensitive device). The optical triangle is used to compute the exact distance between the sensor and the object.

The MX1A and MX1B laser displacement sensors feature high precision laser beams which can detect infinitesimal displacements of up to 0.0004" (10 microns). These laser sensors provide extremely accurate results with a linear relationship between analog output and detected distance. For example, they can detect objects with very low surface reflection characteristics, such as black rubber.

The MX1A and MX1B laser sensors can be combined to determine the thickness of an object. Uniform production results can be obtained when layering materials by providing a precise calculation of the finished thickness. The MX1B also provides a digital readout for easy setup and monitoring.

LASERSCALE™
High accuracy linear and rotary scales
High-speed response, superior accuracy, and high environmental resistance is featured in the LASERSCALE™, an exposed encoder from Sony. Because there is no contact between the scanning head and the scale, mechanical backlash (hysteresis) is eliminated. LASERSCALE™ measures displacement by monitoring the phase change of a semiconductor laser beam as it passes through a hologram grating.

With our new Laser-Distance Sensors DLS-B you measure absolute distances up to 500 meters. Thanks to state of the art laser technology the DLS-B device measures with a precision of 1.5 millimeters. It represents a cost efficient solution even at extreme environment temperatures as low as -40° C.
The DLS-B is an optical measuring device. You can measure, maintenance-free, distances on natural and reflective surfaces. You determine positions on objects difficult to access or with very high surface temperatures. Just as well you can measure distances in an aggressive environment in an easy and accurate way.
Serial, analog and digital interfaces are standard features for the complete DLS-B product line. This enables you to easily connect the DLS-B to a control system (SPS, IPC or PC)
The DLS-B device runs in a “Stand-alone-mode” and independently executes all programmed functions. Thanks to the flexible range of functions an external display can be connected directly to the DLS-B device via interface RS232 or RS422. Via a digital input, measurements can also be activated from an external button or switch.
For easy configuration of the DLS-B devices, the necessary software is at your disposal

What is a laser?
Laser light consists of light waves of identical length which have a defined phase relation (coherence).
Laser systems also have a relatively small angle of radiation.
What are the distinctive features of laser systems?
Laser systems are used where detection of small objects or precise positioning is required. Due to the small angle of divergence this can be achieved over long ranges.
How dangerous are laser sensors?
Due to the small angle of divergence laser beams are focussed on a small area. The energy and power density on this area is extremely high. Depending on the technical data of the laser transmitter, this is a risk for human health, specially for the eye. ifm laser sensors conform to the Euro standard EN60825 and the international standard IEC60825. These standards describe the operation of laser systems. In the standard laser systems are divided in 5 classes.
ifm laser sensors are classified in the laser protection class 2. Thus the laser power, also in the setting mode is max. 1 mW. When the laser beam hits the human eye the eyelid is instinctively closed. When hitting the unprotected eye the laser beam must cause no damage within a time of 0.25 s.

The LAP SERVOLASER is a flexible laser positioning system with fixed and movable line laser modules.
In most applications, SERVOLASER project two parallel lines in vapying positions, controlled by product specifications. These two lines can move symmetrical in relation to a third, fixed centerline, or independently. The laser line modules are placed at the required positions by instructions of PC or PLC. SERVOLASER can be directly connected to PC or PLC by parallel port or interfaces (Ethernet UDP, Profibus DP).
Changes during production are foolproof because of product-specific line positions: no movement by hand, no optical markers, no measuring efforts. Just type in product code, that's it !
LAP SERVOLASER can be combinations of one or two movable lasers with one or two fixed lasers. Customized versions are available on request.

Based on the high-precision evaluation of several coil systems, the new position measurement systems are a combination of proven inductive sensor technology and innovative microcontroller technology. Due to the simultaneous evaluation of multiple coil systems, these positioning systems provide very high repeatability, accuracy and resolution. Because of their inductive principle of operation they do not need ferrites or magnets as counterparts. Like an inductive proximity switch, the target can be made of any metal. Integrated safety functions, which for instance display the removal of the target out of the detection range, ensure additional system safety. Due to integrated temperature compensation, the inductive positioning systems are also well suited for harsh environments and critical positioning tasks.
Advantages:
High resolution and accuracy
Very good repeatability
Minimum temperature drift
Non-contact detection
Absolute
Teachable

The digital magnetic scale ® consits of a band-shaped magnetic and a reading head with the from Sony® developed MR-Element, which even by little changes of the magnetic flux a stron and stable output signal is generated. The output signal of the reading head, is electronicay divided and converted into a digital signal. This has a much higher resolution as the pole divider of the magnetised, magnetic alternating field and therefore it can be used to measure and control.

Cable displacement sensors are based on an extremely simple operating principle, transforming the linear displacement of the cable into a rotary displacement by means of a drum connected to a return spring.
The sensor outputs a signal proportional to the cable displacement through a hybrid potentiometer or an encoder fixed to the drum shaft.
The signal is then an analogue signal (voltage or current) or a pulse signal.

AC operated Linear Variable Differential Transformers (LVDT’s) contain no electronics and are therefore the first choice when small size, hostile environments or low cost are required. AC LVDT’s when used in conjunction with Measurement Specialties Signal conditioners (see Instrumentation) offer the maximum amount of flexibility for outputs and scaling. Ranges from +/-0.005” to +/-10.000” are available.
The E Series of LVDTs is economical and satisfies numerous applications where LVDT performance and reliability are desired, but where budgets are limited. Linearity is 0.5% of full-range for all units except the E2000. The E series is particularly suitable for moderate operating temperatures. Its rugged construction will resist the shocks and vibrations encountered in most industrial applications. The E series is housed in magnetic stainless steel for protection against electromagnetic and electrostatic interference.
