Mechanical seals are used for the sealing of rotating shafts against a stationary housing, e.g. in pumps and agitators. The stationary" part of the seal is usually located at the housing, the rotating" part is fixed on the shaft. The high-precision face-machined sliding faces rotate axially in opposition. The sliding faces are pressed against each other by means of spring force, thus preventing the opening of the seal. The seal faces are statically sealed against the housing and the shaft by secondary seals (O-rings). With the entry of the pumped medium into the minimal sealing gap a lubricating film is generated and the sealing effect is thus obtained.
The design, arrangement and combination of materials of the seal is basically determined by pressure, temperature, speed of rotation and quality of the pumped medium. Shaft diameters of 5...500 mm, pressures from 10 torr ....250 bar, temperatures from -200°C... +450°C and sliding velocities up to 150 m/s limit the operating range of mechanical seals. Additional seal supply systems or buffer fluid systems may be required, dependent on the mode of operation, the quality of the medium and the seal arrangement.

Very complete, the range of the trimmings proposed by the Group Eynard Robin gathers braids KEMPCHEN, AUTOCLAVITE and KLINGER. These joint-sealing compounds are used in all industries
Braids KEMPCHEN, distributed exclusively by the Group Eynard Robin, offer a broad choice of materials for many applications:
- pure PTFE fibers,
- special vegetable fibers,
- mark-sensed PTFE fibers,
- mineral and synthetic fibers with strong PTFE impregnation,
- fiber braiding of aramide with impregnation PTFE and lubricant silicone,
- pure graphite bands and self-lubricating braid,
- expanded graphite bands (flexible) reinforced with stainless steel wire,
- glass fiber trimming.
The Group Eynard Robin also manufactures cotton braids for weak operating conditions. This solution is particularly economic.
The choice of a braid depends on many parameters: physical environment, temperature, pressure, rate of acidity and speed of the apparatus (in rotation and/or translation). To cover N maximum of applications, trimmings KEMPCHEN resist:
- temperatures from -200 to +650 °C
- pH from 0 to 14
- pressures from 15 to 1500 bar.

The packed gland is an exceptionally reliable fluid sealing device that is simple to install and maintain. Not only is it highly versatile, but also remarkably cost effective in both plant downtime and materials - especially when compared to complex alternatives.
Our constant advances in materials and lubricants, product design and manufacturing techniques, keep us at the forefront of compression packing technology. We therefore bring you one of the widest ranges of packings to match the temperatures, pressures and speeds of your most modern fluid handling systems, and economical packings for your older plant.
|
|
Packing made of continuous 100% aramid fibres. Each single yarn is impregnated with PTFE using our exclusive "Filcoat"-process, then re-impregnated with a mix of PTFE and inert food-quality lubricant during plaiting operation.
Pumps, rotary movements.
Chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, food and sugar industries, pulp and paper mills, power stations.

Stuffing Box Packings (Gland Packings) are machine-braided cords of different materials, used for sealing rotating shafts in pumps, ventilators and fittings. Packing sections are laid round the shaft in circles and then compressed with the gland. For dynamic applications, the compression must be so adjusted that a certain minor amount of leakage between packing and shaft may emerge. Harmful dry running is prevented thus and the leakage is dissipated or returned. Various materials and material combinations are used according to the individual case of application. Special lubricants are incorporated into the braiding to improve running properties.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
FC35 seal is a new concept of mechanical seal. It is of the stationary type and runs in open area, with the
sliding faces, completely immersed in the product which remains outside of them.
With faces in Silicon carbide FC35 seal is suitable to operate with slurry, pulp, sludge and similar dirty, viscous and extremely abrasives
products.

Mechanical seals are available as: single, double complete with pumping ring, single with V-ring, single and double seals capable for dry running.
All of these seals are suitable for DIN and ANSI type flanges, which have very limited radial and axial dimensions and are ideal for pumps, mixers, fans and other equipment.
The cartridge assembly minimises installation problems to a minimum and is suitable for most applications.
There is also a version available with a thicker shaft sleeve and larger internal clearances designed for fitting to equipment and stirrers that are submitted usually to substantial mechanical stresses, oscillation, vibration and run-out.
|
|
Capable of operating as a pressure less tandem seal or as a pressured double seal, LATTYseal B 14810 DB guarantees, by inventory shrinkage, a TCO reduction, while maximum sealing flexibility and reliability are given by this one product that fits more than one application.
Chemical and petrochemical, automotive, food processing industry, etc.
All corrosive, abrasive and slightly clogging fluids.
|
|
|
The modular family concept of John Crane's Universal Cartridge will change your approach to sealing. Since the 5600 Series' components are interchangeable, you can apply one seal family throughout your plant. This gives you the flexibility to cover more applications with less inventory, which means your maintenance is simplified, downtime is reduced, plant operating efficiency is increased, and costs are lowered.

One of the types of seals that CHO specialise in is cassette type seals where the primary function is to protect the bearing from ingress of grit, dirt, water, etc. These are primarily used in dirty environments where experience has proven that standard seals are not upto the job. Typical applications are:
- agricultural tractors
- heavy duty trucks and trailers
- quarry and mining equipment
CHO have many styles and sizes available for the above industries, but are constantly manufacture new styles and sizes.
CHO have just introduced a "patent pending" axle seal for the US Heavy duty truck and trailer market.

PTFE gaskets are one of the most suitable types of gaskets for a variety of sealing applications and are mostly based on virgin PTFE, PTFE compounds, filled PTFE or expanded PTFE. And what provides the PTFE gaskets with such an extensive range of applicability? The answer is PTFE. PTFE is a fluoropolymere, which features an outstanding chemical resistivity to almost all chemicals, good thermal insulation properties, and useful mechanical and processing characteristics. The above-mentioned PTFE features can be usefully applied in PTFE gaskets. They can be mostly used in valve seats, bearings, requested to resin sliding and chemicals, elastic bands for an-lubricated compressors, O-rings where elastomers can not withstand.
An extended range of improved mechanical and processing properties can be additionally reached by a combination of virgin PTFE and different fillers.
Expanded PTFE Gaskets and Seal materials consist of virgin PTFE with multidirectional fibrous and/or porous structure, which the extruded PTFE consists of. A special manufacturing process provides the material with special chemical and physical properties. This can be of advantage in wide range of the applications.
Advantages
Virgin PTFE, PTFE compounds and expanded PTFE offer a wide range of compounded products with good mechanical properties, electrical properties, thermal properties, chemical resistance, low friction coefficient and good resistance to wear.
Shape and construction
Several types pf DONIT TESNIT® - PTFE gaskets are produced to meet the most demanding applications.
