The bevel gear motor reduces speed using a conical gear. It combines a motor and a gear train, already assembled and ready to use. The teeth can be straight or helical and input and output shafts usually are at a right angle. Helical teeth are more efficient and quieter, but cost more. The input and output shafts usually are at a right angle.
Bevel gear motors have many industrial applications, but most involve shafts at a right angle. Otherwise, atransfer gear would be needed to change the orientation. The term transfer gear also is used when the gear ratio is 1:1.
