A drying oven uses controlled temperature to evaporate solvents (from drying paint, for example) or to dry wet materials (e.g., after washing). Its electric heating system can reach 300° C. Drying by simple convection is less efficient than forced convection using fans to circulate the air in the oven. Vacuum drying, even more efficient, involves lowering internal ambient pressure and aspirating the evaporating solvent, permitting low-temperature treatment of heat-sensitive materials.
These ovens are found in numerous research and production settings in the chemical, electronics, pharmaceutical and other industries.
Choice depends on the materials to be dried, oven volume, maximum temperature and type of convection within the oven.
