Hall effect sensors measure the intensity of magnetic fields. The change in output voltage of the Hall effect sensor is directly transduced by the changing magnetic field. In certain situations where the current can generate a magnetic field, Hall effect sensors can also measure current intensity.
Hall effect sensors are used in industry to measure the proximity of objects, rotary position, speed and for measuring electrical current. Hall effect sensors are used in rotary position sensors found in steering axles, accelerator pedals and suspension systems. Hall effect sensors are also commonly used to determine wheel speed on engines, tachometers and electric motors.
