Rotary Lobe Pumps - TopLobe and TopWing
The original design of the rotary lobe pump goes back to the early 40’s and has since then been further developed and improved. Johnson Pump has long experience in rotary lobe pumps. Market knowledge and appreciation of customer needs have been used to improve the existing rotary lobe pump concept with new features and customer benefits.
Rotary lobe pumps are easy to clean and have gentle product handling characteristics. They contain few cavities, which reduces the risk of bacterial growth and makes them particularly suitable for the transport of sensitive fluids – from glue to whole strawberries.

The series WA/WAU Roots vacuum pumps are provided with directly flange-mounted air-cooled standard three-phase motors. The oiled radial sealing rings of the RUVAC WA/WAU for sealing the shaft against the atmosphere are made of FPM (fluor caoutchouc).
The WS/WSU series pumps are driven by air or water-cooled canned motors.
Roots vacuum pumps of the series WAU/WSU are provided with an additional integrated pressure equalization line and a differential pressure valve.
Pumps from these series are supplied with a vertical pumping action as standard.
Advantages to the User
Two air-cooled series, each with four models
Reliable and trouble-free
Sealing rings with their housing can be readily replaced
Shaft seals and elastomer seals made of FPM/Viton
Air-cooled standard motors in accordance with IEC dimensions eg. NEMA dimensions
Easy to exchange with custom motors
Integrated pressure equalization line for protection against overloading at high pressures
Pumping direction may be changed as required
ATEX versions compliant to 94/9/EC possible
Typical Applications
For oil-free compression of gases and vapors in combination with a backing pump
Short cycle pumping processes also in the presence of large quantities of gas and vapor
Supplied Equipment
RUVAC WA/WAU are supplied as standard for a vertical pumping action, horizontal pumping action upon request
Mineral oil N 62 is used as standard
Gasket in the intake flange with dirt sieve
The required oil filling is included in separate bottles |

Marketed as Viking Pump in the U.S., and as Johnson Pump (U.K.) in the rest of the world, these hygienic pumps offer more than 40 displacements in six series. With EHEDG and 3A certifications, there are models designed for strip-clean, C.I.P., and aseptic processing of foods and pharmaceuticals. Providing low shear for product integrity, they can handle everything from ultrapure water to highly viscous products like peanut butter.

The BR series offers self-priming pumps, called rotary lobes pumps, used for liquids and semi-solids filling, decanting, irrigation or emptying operations. Differently from all other pumps, the liquid pass through the pump. The BR series is composed of 7 models (BR 40, BR 80, BR 120, BR 160, BR 200, BR 240 and BR 280) available in versions /P, /D, /H with capacities from 1425 lt/min. to 4950 lt/min.

The pumps are based on the geometry and properties of the cycloid. In fact, they are lobe pumps (or internal gear pumps). All of the main components are made of sintered materials. In the development of these two types of technology, we have given an emphasis to high performance in terms of capacity and pressure in proportion to the pump size (owing to the reduction in unused volume), as well as to duration and lower noise level (owing to the porosity offered by the powder metallurgy).
Self-lubrication is another important property intrinsic to every model of this product, and it is a guarantee against buckling.

With five series, including 30 displacements, Viking Pump offers the broadest line of industrial lobe pumps in the world. Providing low shear, high efficiency and pressures to 27 bar, these stainless steel pumps offer a broad variety of rotor forms and shaft sealing options. They can handle liquids from 1 to 440,000 cSt. They are designed to handle steam or solvent-cleaning between batches.

The RTP20 (1.0 liter/rev) and RTP30 series (1.28 liter/rev) design is a proven high-speed rotary transport pump with exceptional performance, advanced durability, application flexibility, and ease of installation to help users achieve enhanced productivity for a lower total cost of ownership. This series’ tri-lobe design, customizable per customer specifications, is compact and light-weight and features removable feet and multiple mountings for easy vertical or horizontal adaptation. Both the RTP20 and RTP30 series efficiently fill rotor voids, allowing for faster and quieter operation on viscous liquids. In addition, with a longer sealing land at rotor tips, the series provides enhanced efficiency when working with lower viscosity products. The RTP20 offers a capacity to 264 GPM (1,000 L/M / 60 M³/Hr.), pressure to 145 PSI (10 Bar), viscosity to 250,000 SSU (55,000 cSt), and operates in temperatures to +230°F (+110°C). The RTP30 offers a capacity to 340 GPM (1,283 L/M / 77 M³/Hr.), pressure to 175 PSI (12 Bar), viscosity to 250,000 SSU (55,000 cSt), and operates in temperatures to +300°F (+150°C). These pumps are available with ACME threaded or tri-clamp ports as well as many other port connection types.
