MAGNETIC DRIVE CENTRIFUGAL PUMPS
operations
A couple of magnets leads the operation of the pump; the outer magnet placed on the drive shaft transmits the motion to the inner magnet integrated with the impeller that is hermetically insulated. The pump impeller is not physically fixed to the drive shaft, seals are therefore eliminated and this consequently avoids leakages of the liquid drawn by the pump which are usually due to its wear and tear. The pump head is manufactured with few components, thus the maintenance of which becomes extremely easy. The materials used as standard are polypropylene (pp) and polyvinylidene fluoride (pvdf).
The pumps can’t run dry. Dirty liquids can reduce the pump life
Working temperatures: PP max 80°c / pvdf - ectfe max 90°c.
applications
DEBEM pumps are succesfully suitable for many different application fields such as: laboratory technique, medical equipments, photo processors, x rays film processors, laser beam systems, metal finishing machines, graphics, heat exchangers, aquariums, water treatment, filter units, chemical industry, galvanic industry.

Simple and versatile, the BM horizontal magnetic drive centrifugal pumps can be used with chemically aggressive liquids eliminating any risk of external leakage.
Thanks to the their magnetic coupling (transmission occurs by means of opposing magnets) and to the absence of rotating seals, this type of pump guarantees safe operation and the least possible maintenance. The pair of magnets in fact makes up the pump-motor connection: the shaft-motor magnet transmits rotary motion to the other magnet coupled to the impeller.
The liquids pumped must necessarily be clean, without the presence of suspended solids.
A wide variety of series versions are available with solutions for all industrial pumping needs.

The Universal Mag Drive is the ideal sealing technology for critical liquid containment applications within Viking’s Universal Seal product line. It is dimensionally interchangeable with Viking's Heavy Duty bracketed and Universal Seal pumps, allowing for easy upgrade from packed or mechanical seals to sealless technology. The Universal Mag Drive’s hermetic, static sealed canister provides the highest level of liquid containment available by eliminating traditional dynamic shaft seals. It also eliminates housekeeping issues and downtime due to seal failure. This product is designed to handle a broad range of applications requiring continuous duty at pressures up to 200 PSI (14 Bar).
|
|
Operation is similar to standard centrifugal pumps, except the impeller is driven with a magnetic coupling, eliminating the need for a shaft seal. Magnetic drive pumps must be used where a flooded suction exists. The corrosion resistant pump has dry run capabilities. Several flexible mounting and body discharge positions are available. The pump offers a low current draw and heat rise and has a quiet operation. NSF certified models are available.
Typical applications include film processors, laser and x-ray cooling systems, medical, scientific and laboratory equipment and silver recovery equipment.

Process magnetic drive pumps MDM series
Unique design endurable to dry running (Non contact system)
The pump design features a mechanism to withstand dry running. High magnet power of the rare earth magnets prevents the magnet capsule coming into contact with the thrust ring of the rear casing, thus preventing melting of fluororesin components due to heat generation. This greatly improves resistance against dry running in comparison with conventional magnetic drive pumps made of fluororesin. Note: Only CF type (fitted with high density carbon bearing) can cope with dry running. Dry running is not permitted in the case of KK type.
ETFE and PFA available in standard models
Carbon fibre reinforced ETFE (CFRETFE) and PFA linings can be supplied to meet many varying duties. PFA being a natural unfilled material generates fewer contaminants and makes it ideally suited for transfer of high purity chemicals.
Back pullout system
In order to facilitate inspection and maintenance, this series employs the back pullout system. This enables one to conduct inspections internally and replace parts without removing piping. The pump is designed to include safety measures that can prevent the liquid from leaking when the foot support is pulled back.

Motion is transmitted by magnetic couplings, thus avoiding a mechanical connection between the impeller and driving part. The absence of drive shaft and respective sealing systems removes the risk of leakage of the pumped product. Hydraulic thrust control, optimised internal lubrication, hard-wearing bushings and other components, excellent hydraulic performance and simple maintenance make UTS-B pumps of unrivalled versatility. They can be manufactured from stainless steel or special alloys. Operating temperatures range from cryogenic to +180°C.

MPN range: Standard suction, magnetically-coupled pumps
The pump casing of the MPN range is hermetically sealed. The impeller is powered by magnetic force, eliminating the need for a direct connection to an external motor. Parts in contact with the fluid medium are manufactured from solid PVDF or PP. These models come equipped with low-maintenance, hydrodynamic gliding-surface bearings, composed of either PTFE and ceramics components, or SiC components, and incorporate high-quality permanent magnets into their design.
PVDF pumps may be used for medium temperatures of up to 95°C; PP pumps for temperatures of up to 85°C. These models are available with a choice of electric drive motors: three-phase or single-phase and three-phase explosion protection or flameproof enclosure drives. All drives can be adapted to work off any voltage or frequency. The characteristic curves of these models have been measured using three-phase double pole motors, with water as a test medium, at a temperature of 20°C
Advantages:
- Completely proofed against leaks, as no rotating parts need to be sealed off
- Low maintenance, due to wear-resistant hydrodynamic slide bearings
- High chemical resistance to corrosive media, due to the minimum number of materials used in the pumps` manufacture
- Universally adaptable
Some uses and applications:
- Wafer production in the micro-chip industry
- Printed circuit board (PCB) manufacture
- Water treatment and sewage systems
- Electro-plating applications
- Laboratory facilities
- Medical facilities
