The milling spindle is the part that holds and rotates the cutting tool on milling machines. Oriented horizontally or vertically, it turns the cutting tool as it removes material from the workpiece.
Milling spindles are found on vertical, horizontal and universal type milling machines.
Milling spindles generally are driven by an external or integrated motor. The external-drive version combines a motor and transmission to rotate the spindle.
When selecting a milling spindle be sure to specify the maximum speed (rpm), the rated power (kW), and the rated torque (N m).
