Immersion heater with ceramic core element
These immersion heaters consist of a ceramic core heating element incorporated in a cylindrical sheath made of materials adapted to the heated fluid.
This arrangement offers many advantages :
- A wide choice of materials for the sheath : steel, all stainless steel, titanium, pyrex®, teflon®, etc.
- A low watt density for "fragile" fluids.
- A wide tolerance to the clogging of the heating circuits.
- The possibility of replacing the heater without having to empty the container.

Heatflon® Serie PH 1 - 9
Heatflon® heaters of the PH series consist of a stainless steel tubular radiator sheated in PFA. The head of the heater is made of PTFE and the connecting cable of PFA. Heating zone, head and connecting cable are welded together watertightly as a result a complete immersion in aggresive media is possible.
All devices of the PH series are earthed and approved by association of German engieers (VDE).
As an optional extra, all heaters can also be pre-equipped for a thermal monitoring. Users who purchase a special controller are then able to monitor the internal temperature between the stainless steel heater and the PFA tube, thereby reducing substantially the risk of fire. Heatflon® tubular radiators of the PH series are available for various surface loads, eg:
2,2 W/cm² - 1,5 W/cm² - 1,0 W/cm², applicable dependent on the specific media.

Watlow's WATROD tubular heater elements and flat FIREBAR elements are designed primarily for direct immersion in liquids such as water, oils, solvents and process solutions, molten materials as well as air and gases. By generating all the heat within the liquid or process, these heaters are virtually 100 percent energy efficient. These versatile heaters can also be formed and shaped into various geometries for radiant heating and contact surface heating applications. UL® and CSA component recognized elements available.

OZARK extrudes insulators from MgO, Al2O3, and HfO2 for use in production of mineral insulated thermocouple cable, cartridge heaters, and other high temperature and electrical applications. Extrusion is a ceramic manufacturing technique which produces any shape with a constant cross section and theoretically
unlimited length. A mix containing the desired ceramic powder and various organic additives is forced through a die opening configured to give the required geometry which may include holes of precise shape and size. The extrudate is subsequently dried, fired, cut, inspected and packaged for shipment. Precise control of process variables is required to obtain high quality extrusions meeting purity, microstructural, and dimensional specifications.

U.L. Recognized - E56973 C.S.A. Certified - 016386-0-000
Features :
-Elements are designed for maximum: Watt density, temperature, heat transfer, and heater life.
-The useful life of a cartridge heating element is determined by how quickly the heat generated in the resistance
wire can be dissipated to the outside sheath. With low and moderate watt density elements, such as Hotwatt's
standard line, the conventional method of inserting helical coils in formed ceramics is an entirely satisfactory
method of construction because the wire temperature relative to sheath temperature even though considerably
higher, is still well within safe long-life operating temperatures.
-The Superwatt cartridge heater accelerates the transfer of heat from the resistance wire to the sheath. This is
accomplished by relocating the wire so that it is closer to the sheath; and swaging the outside diameter of the
heater, thereby compressing the magnesium oxide filler so that it becomes an improved conductor of heat from
the wire while maintaining its dielectric properties. (See diagram below). By improving the heat transfer rate, it
is possible to manufacture elements of higher densities because the differential between the wire temperature
and the sheath temperature has been minimized.
-Long, trouble free service.

The Hotwatt Square and Rectangular Cartridge Heater is designed to distribute maximum heat within a desired area. Because they are completely enclosed, square units will furnish more usable heat for a given wattage than a comparable strip heater attached to the exterior of a mod, platen, or other equipment.
The units are inserted in a milled slot, permitting greater lengths than would be feasible with a drilled or reamed hole. Close dimensional tolerances are held to permit intimate fit for best heat transfer to surrounding medium.
Heating elements arranged just beneath outside surface for maximum heat transfer, minimum wire temperature, and faster heating.
Maximum surface temperatures up to 1200°F. Designations are etched on the sheath to preserve accurate shape.
Long, trouble free service.
