CG started manufacturing metal oxide, station type, line discharge Class-3 Surge arresters in 1994 with a technical know-how from M/s Hitachi Limited, Japan. These surge arresters are mainly used for protection of transformers, capacitor banks and high energy applications. CG ZLA3 surge arresters are also used in some special applications like shunt reactor protection, rolling stock applications etc.
