Vacuum arc remelting furnace (VAR)
SECO/WARWICK S.A.
Vacuum Arc Remelting (VAR) furnaces are produced in cooperation with Retech Systems LLC, which brings more than 30 years experience to the design and manufacture of this equipment. VAR is a technology typically utilised for the production of Titanium, Nickel and steel ingots. Other materials the VAR furnace can process are: Zirconium, Tantalum, Niobum, Titanium Aluminides, super alloys, reactive and refractory metals, including nuclear materials.
The main advantage of offered VAR furnace is that it can produce ingots up to 40 diameter to suit almost any customer need. Precision monitoring system, furnace coaxiality and multi-mode control system provide improved ingot properties.
We offer VAR furnaces ranging in capacity from laboratory to production units.
Material applications:
* Titanium & Titanium alloys
* Steel
* Nickel & Nickel-based alloys
* Tantalum
* Tungsten
* Niobum & Niobum alloys
* Zirconium
Advantages:
* Furnace design minimises facility height requirements
* Typical ingot sizes range from 50 to 1270mm (2" to 50") diameter
* Typical power capacities from 500 amps to 50,000 amps
* Highly accurate weight monitoring system
* X-Y electrode positioning
* Fully coaxial power entry available on all offered VAR melters
* State-of-the-art controls with sophisticated algorithms and controls capabilities for voltage, drop short and melt rates
* Comprehensive data acquisition systems for complete melt histories
* Box column rotation
* Two- or three-station operation
* Smooth and accurate ram position control
