Reverse Osmosis (RO) is based on a very dense membrane that rejects virtually all substances except water. This is possible due to a very high system pressure (up to 40 bar). The high pressure in the process overcomes the osmotic pressure of the liquid. RO is used to pre-concentrate prior to evaporation, to minimize transport costs, make process water from effluents, reduce COD in wastewater or to increase capacity in different dairy and plant-based processes.
