Description

Torque adapter 4-9606-ETA is a preset torque adapter delivering 6.0 Nm for 1/4 inch hex bits; it emits an audible click when the preset torque is reached and is designed to prevent overtightening.

Key features
  • Preset torque, precise for at least 20,000 clicks
  • Tolerance ±10% (factory certificate on request)
  • Tightening torque: 6.0 Nm / 61.1 Kgfcm / 53.1 in-lb
  • Bit magnetic holder: 1/4 inch hexagon 6.35 mm (DIN 3126)
  • Drive shank: 1/4 inch hex (DIN 3126)
  • Material: alloyed steel
  • Adapter diameter: 20 mm
  • Adapter length: 33.5 mm (without shank)
  • Total length: 43.5 mm
  • Weight: 69 g

Area of application
Convert a 1/4 inch bit and a holder into a preset torque tool. The torque value is fixed in the adapter and can be clamped between any standard holding tool and a bit. An audible click indicates when the preset torque is reached. The adapter cannot be overtightened. When loosening, there is no torque unlocking (due to a locked core shaft), so no additional loosening tool is required; loosening torque is approximately 30% higher. The adapter is primarily intended for manual operation.

Technical description
The adapters are tested in accordance with DIN EN ISO 6789 (manually operated torque screwdriving tools) and maintain a tolerance of ±10% for at least 20,000 clicks. The user should verify torque regularly with a torque meter. The adapter operates by locking the ratchet and using torque in the bushing sleeve. The patented system consists of a hollow core shaft and a damping cylinder: the core shaft moves the mobile ratchet and the damping cylinder with a slot allows the spacer sleeve to slide on the core shaft. When applied torque exceeds the preset value, the core shaft becomes inactive so continuous tension no longer increases on the screw being tightened.

General information
Torque adapters are used in electronics assembly, quick-change systems, robotic stations, aerospace, medical applications and on any workbench where accurate torque is required.
