ELECTRICAL BURNER TEST APPARATUS
Model : PolyNorme 503
The electrical burner test according to NF P 92-503 is the reaction to fire main test for M
classification of building and fitting materials. It is used for flexible materials with a thickness lower than or equal to 5 mm, for tight fitting flexible wall and ceiling coatings of any thickness and for flexible filtering media of any thickness.
In principle, if the duration of inflammation after withdrawing the pilot flame does not exceed 5 s, the material can be M1 classified. Beyond 5 s of inflammation, the M2 or M3 classification will be made according to the average distance of charring or destruction and possibly also the average width of charring or destruction of the test piece. In case of inflamed or not dripping, the dripping test (NF P 92-505) is carried out. If there is some holing without inflammation or with short time inflammation, classification is obtained after performing the flame persistency test (NF P 92-504).
The electrical burner test apparatus is also employed to study the burning behaviour of industrial fabrics such as canvas covers, large tents, marquees, related structures, air ducts and so on according to NF EN 14115.
