Description

The Glan-Taylor polarizing prism is suitable for laser beams in the wavelength range of 350nm to 2.5μm. It is composed of two negative uniaxial crystal prisms with their optical axes parallel to each other. The air-gap structure can withstand relatively high power. The transmitted light is the extraordinary e-ray (i.e., the p-component), with an extinction ratio exceeding 100,000:1, making it suitable for applications requiring high-quality polarized beams. The reflected light escapes from the side port of the prism, containing all the ordinary o-ray and part of the extraordinary e-ray. Two side ports are designed to facilitate the bidirectional use of the prism. The Glan-Taylor polarizing prism is only suitable for collimated beams. Converging or diverging incident light will cause the beam not to undergo total internal reflection, or the reflected light cannot exit through the window. The Glan-Taylor polarizing prism is mounted in an anodized housing with a clear aperture of 12.7 mm and an outer diameter of 25.4 mm. For GCL-070223, one end is equipped with SM1 (1.035'-40) threads, which can be directly adapted to a rotating polarization mount for easy application. Both sides of the light-transmitting surfaces on the outer frame are marked with the polarization direction of the outgoing light. A Glan-Taylor prisms is an air-spaced prism, which is used as a polarizer or polarizing beam splitter. It is one of the most common types of modern polarizing prism. Because the angle of incidence at the gap can be reasonably close to Brewster’s angle, unwanted reflection of p-polarized light is reduced.
