OverviewTECHSPEC® Zinc Selenide (ZnSe) Plano-Convex (PCX) Lenses are designed for focusing and collimation in the mid-wave and longwave infrared ranges. Manufactured by Coherent®, these optics use infrared-grade ZnSe with bulk absorption <0.0005 cm^-1 at 10.6 µm. Available uncoated or with broadband anti-reflection coatings (examples: dual-band 3–12 µm and 8–12 µm optimized for CO2 lasers and thermal cameras). Effective focal lengths range from 12.7 mm to 250 mm across a three-diameter family.

Special handlingThese optics require special handling to avoid damage and to preserve long-term performance. Clean and store according to manufacturer recommendations. Zinc Selenide is a toxic material; use appropriate personal protective equipment (rubber or plastic gloves) to avoid contamination and follow local safety procedures.
