Electro-hydraulic Erichsen cupping machine – Model 102 is a sheet metal testing machine designed for Erichsen cupping and bore expanding tests, capable of applying up to 60 kN (102-60) / 80 kN (102-80) tensile force. It features an electro-hydraulic drive, automatic switch-off at specimen failure, and intuitive menu navigation via a touch panel.
ApplicationThis machine is intended for testing materials in the medium thickness range (0.1 to approx. 3.0 mm), providing rapid and reliable quality monitoring for sheet metal producers and users.
- Lowering manufacturing costs by spot checks on the drawing quality of cold rolled sheet during production or in the process department.
- Sorting out material of lower quality at the Goods Inwards Department. Immediate assessment of supplied materials drawing quality without special test preparation.
- Determining the most appropriate sheet thickness for a particular drawn work piece to optimize the price-to-suitability ratio for manufacturing.
Quality MeasurementQuantitative measurement of sheet quality is achieved by the ERICHSEN Cupping Test, providing a communication basis between sheet metal producers and users. The crack form and surface roughness (grain size) offer further insights into sheet metal quality and suitability for drawing.
DesignThe machine consists of a sturdy sheet metal housing integrating the test aggregate (test cylinder with work piston, sheet holder piston), test tools, and hydraulic system. The emergency-stop switch is located on the control panel next to the touch panel. Two control valves for drawing and sheet holding force adjustment are user-friendly mounted in front of the housing.
During the ERICHSEN Cupping Test, the sheet metal specimen is inserted and centralized in the test cylinder. The sheet holder force (e.g., 10 kN per DIN EN ISO 20482) is set via a regulating valve, and the cupping process is initiated by selecting the required drawing speed.
The machines automatic stop at specimen failure function ensures the forward speed stops automatically when a crack occurs, guaranteeing objective test results. The ERICHSEN cupping value is displayed with 0.01 mm accuracy on the touch panel.
