Description

The Ear Measuring Instrument Model 126 Plus-Optic is a stationary device for optical, contactless axial measurement of earing on deep-drawn cups and raw cans. It records the cup edge during one rotation and provides standardized evaluation with exportable protocols.

Overview
  • Optical, contactless measurement of earing on deep-drawn cups using an optical sensing unit (Model 126 Plus-Optic); no mechanical chuck required — cups are magnetically attached to the rotary table in the Optic variant.
  • Device composition: rotary table and vertical gauge head. For non-optic variants, a jaw chuck centres and fixes the cup.
  • Measurement is performed during one rotation of the rotary table while the sensor scans the cup edge; pneumatic versions use a test roller that lowers onto the sample.
  • Operation via supplied evaluation software on PC or directly at the device; PC is to be supplied by the customer.

Test principle and results
  • The measuring unit detects the cup edge during a single revolution and returns to its home position after measurement to enable quick sample change.
  • Output formats: .pdf, .txt, .csv (importable into MS Excel).
  • Measurement protocol includes (among others):
    • He_(mm) = Average earing height
    • He,max (mm) = Maximum earing height
    • H_(mm) = Average cup height
    • Z(%) = Average earing percentage
    • Number of earings
    • Date, lot, operator and other protocol metadata
