Description

Description
The Standard Air Knife™ is EXAIR's original air knife design featuring a Coanda profile that turns the airstream 90° from the outlet. This creates a low-pressure region that entrains ambient air at a ratio of 30:1, producing a powerful, uniform airflow. Stock lengths range from 3" (76 mm) to 48" (1219 mm). Available in aluminum or Type 303 stainless steel; custom sizes and materials available on request.

Applications
  • Part drying after wash
  • Sheet cleaning in strip mills
  • Conveyor cleaning
  • Web drying or cleaning
  • Part or component cooling
  • Environmental separation
  • Pre-paint blowoff
  • Bag opening / filling operations
  • Scrap removal on converting operations

Advantages
  • Up to 10 dBA noise reduction compared to alternative designs
  • Reduced compressed air consumption versus less efficient methods
  • 30:1 air amplification for increased effective flow
  • Available in aluminum or Type 303 stainless steel
  • Compact, rugged construction and easy installation
  • Stock lengths up to 48" (1219 mm)
  • No moving parts
  • Compressed air inlets on each end for flexible installation
  • Variable force and flow via shim selection

Materials
  • Aluminum — Aircraft-grade aluminum body with plastic shim; suited to environments where corrosion/contamination is not a factor. Stainless steel screws are used for improved corrosion resistance in damp locations. Temperature rating up to 180°F (82°C).
  • Type 303 Stainless Steel — Common stainless grade providing good strength for mildly corrosive environments. Temperature rating up to 800°F (427°C).

Models (comparative)
  • Super Air Knife — Highest performance: 40:1 air amplification, laminar airstream, highest velocity and lowest air consumption.
  • Standard Air Knife — Good performance with 30:1 air amplification; uniform, forceful airflow; lower cost than Super Air Knife but louder and higher air use.
  • Full-Flow Air Knife — Economical option with 30:1 amplification; suited for tight spaces; lower force than other styles, with intermediate air consumption and sound level.

Accessories
  • Universal Air Knife Mounting System (Model 9060) — Stainless steel mounting system for secure, adjustable positioning; articulates to any position; maximum extension 30" (762 mm). Use multiple mounts depending on air knife length.
  • Air Knife Shim Sets — Shims set the exhaust gap and adjust force/flow. Aluminum shim set: .001" (0.03 mm) amber, .003" (0.08 mm) green, .004" (0.10 mm) tan; a .002" (0.05 mm) red shim is installed as standard. Stainless steel shim sets (three .002" (0.05 mm)) available for stainless models.
