DescriptionThe Full-Flow Air Knife borrows engineering elements from the Standard Air Knife while providing airflow across its entire length. Designed for installations with limited space, it offers a compact footprint and cost-effective performance. Available from stock in lengths from 3" to 36"; aluminum and Type 303 stainless steel constructions; custom sizes and materials available.
Applications- Part drying after wash
- Sheet cleaning in strip mills
- Conveyor cleaning
- Web drying or cleaning
- Part or component cooling
- Environmental separation
- Pre-paint blowoff
- Bag opening and filling operations
- Scrap removal on converting operations
Advantages- Up to 10 dBA noise reduction compared to less-optimized designs
- Reduced air consumption
- 30:1 air amplification (typical)
- Available in aluminum or stainless steel
- Compact, rugged design; easy to install
- Stock lengths up to 48" (1219 mm) in some configurations
- No moving parts
- Compressed air inlets on each end (rear inlets standard; end inlets optional)
- Variable force and flow via shim sets
Materials- Aluminum - aircraft-grade aluminum with plastic shim; stainless steel screws to reduce corrosion in damp environments; suitable for general-purpose applications; operating temperature up to 180°F (82°C).
- Type 303 Stainless Steel - common stainless grade offering good strength and resistance for mildly corrosive environments; operating temperature up to 800°F (427°C).
Models / Comparisons- Super Air Knife - best performance with 40:1 air amplification; laminar airstream; highest velocity; lowest air consumption.
- Standard Air Knife - good performance with 30:1 air amplification; less efficient than Super Air Knife; higher air consumption and noise.
- Full-Flow Air Knife - good performance with 30:1 air amplification; least expensive option; suited to tight spaces; lower force than Super and Standard styles; air consumption and sound level fall between Super and Standard; compressed air inlet(s) provided on the rear (end inlets available at additional charge).
Accessories- Universal Air Knife Mounting System - Model 9060; stainless steel construction; articulating for positioning; maximum extension 30" (762 mm); mounting requires 1/2" diameter hole or 1/2"-13 tapped hole; use multiple mounts for longer knives as specified by length ranges.
- Air Knife Plumbing Kit - required for Full-Flow Air Knives 24" or longer to supply compressed air at multiple inlets; includes properly sized hose, fittings and a pressure gauge; nitrile/PVC hose and brass fittings included.
- Coupling Bracket Kits - for joining two Full-Flow Air Knives for lengths longer than 36"; includes rigid plates and assembly screws; stainless steel screws included.
- Air Knife Shim Sets - shims set the exhaust gap; force and flow can be increased by adding shims; aluminum shim set includes .001" (0.03 mm) amber, .003" (0.08 mm) green and .004" (0.10 mm) tan shims; a red .002" (0.05 mm) shim is installed in aluminum units; stainless steel knives include a .002" (0.05 mm) stainless shim.
