Description

Overview
The Deluxe Standard Air Knife™ Kit includes a Standard Air Knife, EFC (Electronic Flow Control), Universal Air Knife Mounting System, shim set, filter separator and pressure regulator with coupler. The Standard Air Knife uses a Coanda profile to turn the primary airstream 90° and entrain ambient air at an approximate ratio of 30:1, producing a high-volume, focused airflow. Stock lengths range from 3" to 48" (76 mm to 1219 mm). Aluminum and Type 303 stainless steel constructions are available; custom sizes and materials can be supplied on request.

Applications
  • Part drying after washing
  • Sheet cleaning in strip mills
  • Conveyor surface cleaning and debris removal
  • Web drying or cleaning in coating/printing lines
  • Part or component cooling
  • Environmental separation and dust control
  • Pre-paint blowoff and contamination control
  • Bag opening and filling operations
  • Scrap removal in converting processes

Advantages
  • Air amplification up to approximately 30:1 for reduced compressed air usage
  • Noise reduction up to 10 dBA compared with alternative fittings
  • Available in aluminum or Type 303 stainless steel to match environment
  • Compact profile with compressed air inlets at each end for easy plenum connection
  • No moving parts for low maintenance
  • Variable force and flow controlled by inlet pressure and EFC
  • Stock lengths up to 48" (1219 mm) for continuous coverage

Materials
  • Aluminum - Aircraft-grade aluminum body with plastic shim; suitable for general industrial environments where corrosion is not a primary concern. Stainless steel screws resist corrosion in damp locations. Maximum operating temperature ~180°F (82°C).
  • Type 303 Stainless Steel - Preferred for mildly corrosive environments; offers good strength and temperature resistance up to ~800°F (427°C).

  • 100 PSIG (6.9 BAR) — 4.1 SCFM/in (116 SLPM/in); Velocity: 13,000 FPM (66.0 m/s); Sound: 86 dBA; Force: 3.3 oz/in (94 g/in)

How it works
Compressed air is supplied to a plenum and forced through a continuous thin nozzle along the knife length. The primary airstream adheres to the Coanda profile, is turned 90° and travels down the face of the unit; this flow entrains ambient air to produce the amplified output (typical amplification ~30:1 at standard operating distances).
