Description

Overview
Poly V is a one-piece molded ribbed power transmission belt designed to transmit torque and power through contact of belt rib flanks with pulley grooves. Its monobloc construction provides compact drives and high transmission efficiency suitable for a wide range of industrial applications.

Design and principle
Poly V is a molded, monobloc ribbed belt with multiple longitudinal ribs that increase contact surface compared with V-belts or flat belts while using a single cord. The belt can operate in flexion and counter-flexion and be used as a serpentine belt to drive several accessories from a single belt.

Main benefits
  • Compactness: larger contact area than V-belts or flat belts for a single cord, enabling reduced pulley diameters and belt widths.
  • High power transmission: improved transmission ratios and capability across light- to heavy-duty equipment.
  • Cost reduction: smaller pulleys, shorter belt length, possible elimination of stepped pulleys or inertia flywheels.
  • Maintenance and serviceability: quick replacement (one Poly V can replace multiple V-belts), no matching required, extended service life.
  • Operational efficiency: high output (reported >98% vs V-belts in iso-tests), lowering energy consumption and enabling engine downsizing.

Applications
Suitable as a drive belt across many sectors including fitness equipment, agricultural and gardening machinery, HVAC systems, industrial engines, energy systems, pumps, mining and quarrying, construction equipment, material handling (forklifts), and various food and industrial machines. The belt supports driving accessories and back-drive of pulleys and idlers for compact serpentine layouts.

Technical highlights and specific features
  • Improved transmission ratios (example: Poly V 1:60 vs V-belt 1:20).
  • Minimum pulley diameters down to 9 mm with H-profile vs ~50 mm for V-belts.
  • Reduced belt width for comparable power transfer.
  • Ability to operate in flexion and counter-flexion for serpentine configurations.
  • Capability to drive several accessories and to transmit torque from the back of the belt.
  • High efficiency (>98%) enabling lower energy consumption and potential engine size reduction.

Complementary tools & services
